Narottam Mishra on Deepak Joshi: Senior BJP leader and former minister Deepak Joshi has clarified that he is ending his association with the party and will soon join the Congress. A day after this, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that the party is with him (Deepak Joshi). Responding to the issue on Tuesday, Narottam Mishra said, Deepak Joshi has been my cabinet colleague. He is a very capable leader. He is a senior leader of the party and we are with him.
Narottam Mishra said that he learned politics from Deepak Joshi’s father, late Kailash Chandra Joshi, who served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh from 1977-1978. After the death of the former CM, his son Deepak Joshi was elected as the MLA from Bagli. His father had represented this constituency for years.
Later, the Bagli seat was reserved for Scheduled Castes and Joshi contested thrice from the neighboring assembly constituency Hatpipaliya. He registered two wins in 2008 and 2013 while lost the 2018 assembly elections. Joshi had claimed that after this defeat he was sidelined from the party.

Sources said that after Deepak Joshi decided to switch to Congress, a section of senior BJP leaders is planning to contact him soon. If sources are to be believed, BJP leaders will try to persuade him to change his mind and stay with the party. It is believed that if Deepak Joshi joins the Congress, then it can cause a big blow to the ruling party in the state.
‘Raised many issues of corruption, no action was taken’- Deepak Joshi
Deepak Joshi had said on Monday that on May 6 he would meet state Congress President Kamal Nath. He also said that my father’s legacy was honesty. I had raised various issues related to corruption in the development of Bagli assembly constituency, but no action was taken on those matters. Deepak Joshi said that I will carry forward the legacy of my father, who was known for his honesty.
