Wrestlers Protest At Jantar-Mantar: Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal has issued a notice to the police for allegedly registering an FIR in the case of sexual harassment of female wrestlers. Women wrestlers have complained to the Delhi Women’s Commission that they have given a written complaint to the police two days ago but their FIR has not been registered yet.
Significantly, the wrestlers are protesting at Jantar Mantar regarding their grievances against the Wrestling Federation of India. Indian wrestler and Olympian Bajrang Punia said, “Nothing has happened so far, this is the reason. A complaint has also been given at the Connaught Place police station. Delhi Police will take its own action.”
Delhi Women’s Commission got this answer from the police station
In the notice given by Swati Maliwal to the police, she has clarified that the Delhi Women’s Commission had received a complaint of sexual exploitation of female wrestlers by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India, after which the Commission on April 21, 2023 A complaint was lodged at the Connaught Place police station. No action has been taken on this till now. When the police station was asked about this matter, what action was taken in this matter, then information was received that no FIR has been registered till now.
What did Bajrang Punia say?
It has been said in the notice of the Delhi Women’s Commission that on their behalf it was said to take forward the action on this matter till Monday. The assurance of registering an FIR could not be received from the SHO even till Monday, for which a notice has been given to the police by the Delhi Commission for Women. On the other hand, in the matter of sexual exploitation of wrestlers, the discussions from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh have intensified again. Once again many wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, have sat on a dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the allegation against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, president of Wrestling Federation of India and BJP’s Kaiserganj MP.
